Court Weighs Several Factors to Determine Support
Our experienced attorneys understand that the question that most concerns our clients about alimony is how much support will be paid and for how long. In New Jersey, there is no precise calculation or formula for how a court will determine an award of alimony. Rather, the court will consider a number of factors, including:
- Duration of the marriage;
- Age and health of the parties;
- Standard of living enjoyed during the marriage;
- Earning capacity and educational background of the parties; and
- Parental responsibilities for the children of the marriage.
