Aleida Rivera is a skilled trial attorney who has settled and tried hundreds of cases in her many years of practice. Ms. Rivera received her Juris Doctorate degree from Rutgers University Law School, Newark, in 1983 and her undergraduate degrees in English and Criminal Justice from Rutgers University in 1980. She is bilingual and speaks Spanish fluently.

Ms. Rivera’s extensive litigation experience includes all types of personal injury matters, from automobile accidents to complex wrongful death and construction accident cases, as well as divorce matters, domestic violence cases and workers’ compensation.
She also has extensive courtroom experience, including arguing motions and representing clients in hearings and both jury and non-jury trials.
An expert litigant, Ms. Rivera has managed all aspects of litigation, including investigation and analysis, legal research and writing, motion practice, conducting discovery, examining witnesses at trials and hearings, participating in arbitrations, mediations and settlement conferences, and trying cases to verdict. She also has exceptional negotiating skills, and has obtained millions of dollars in settlements for her clients.

In addition to handling civil litigation matters, Ms. Rivera applies her courtroom expertise and strong writing and negotiating skills to all aspects of family law. Her extensive experience with both jury and bench trials proves especially valuable in contested matrimonial cases. While thorough trial preparation is always critical, Ms. Rivera’s negotiating and settlement skills often enable her to achieve prompt and satisfactory results for her clients without having to go to trial, thus eliminating prolonged and expensive litigation.
Ms. Rivera has filed briefs in the Appellate and Supreme courts on personal injury, workers’ compensation and criminal law issues and has argued before the Appellate Court. Her published opinions include: Bernoskie v. Zarinsky, 383 N.J. Super. 127 (App. Div.) Certif. den. 186 N.J. 604 (2006), and Harbatuk v. S&S Furniture Systems Insulation, 211 N.J. Super. 614 (App. Div. 1986).
Active in the community, Ms. Rivera has served on nonprofit boards, including Trenton Community A Team (TCAT), Latin American Legal Defense & Education Fund (LALDEF) and Hunterdon Hispanos. She has been a keynote speaker for the Latina Women’s Council of Mercer County annual Women History Month Scholarship fundraiser and a committee member and presenter at the Latino Community Legal Education Forum, sponsored by the Hunterdon County Bar Association.
Ms. Rivera is a member of the Hunterdon County Bar Association and the New Jersey Bar Association.
