ALEIDA RIVERA is a skilled trial attorney who has settled and tried hundreds of cases in her many years of practice. Ms. Rivera received her Juris Doctorate degree from Rutgers University Law School, Newark in 1983 and her undergraduate degrees in English and Criminal Justice from Rutgers University in 1980. Her extensive litigation experience includes matters involving all types of personal injury matters, from automobile accidents to complex wrongful death and construction accident cases, as well as divorce matters, domestic violence cases and workers’ compensation. Ms. Rivera has extensive court room experience including arguing motions, hearings and both jury and non-jury trials. She has successfully tried many jury trials to verdict. Ms. Rivera’s significant experience in all aspects of litigation include investigation and analysis, legal research and writing, motion practice, conducting discovery, examining witnesses at trials and hearings, participating in arbitrations, mediations and settlement conferences and trial of cases to verdict. She has exceptional negotiating skills, obtaining millions of dollars in settlements.
Ms. Rivera, in addition to handling civil litigation matters, has been able to apply her extensive court room experience and strong writing and negotiating skills to all aspects of family law. Her experience in trying both jury and bench trials provides her with the expertise necessary in a contested matrimonial case. While she views being ready for trial as invaluable, her settlement skills allows her to achieve prompt and satisfactory results for her clients, eliminating prolonged and expensive litigation.
Ms. Rivera has filed briefs in the Appellate and Supreme Court on personal injury, workers’ compensation and criminal law issues and has argued before the Appellate Court. Her published opinions include: Bernoskie v. Zarinsky, 383 N.J. Super. 127 (App. Div.) Certif. den. 186 N.J. 604 (2006) and Harbatuk v. S&S Furniture Systems Insulation, 211 N.J. Super. 614 (App. Div. 1986).
Ms. Rivera is active in the community, having served on not for profit boards, including Trenton Community A Team (TCAT), Latin American Legal Defense & Education Fund (LALDEF) and Hunterdon Hispanos. She was the keynote speaker for the Latina Women’s Council of Mercer County annual Women History Month Scholarship fund raiser and a committee member and presenter at the Latino Community Legal Education Forum, sponsored by the Hunterdon County Bar Association.
Ms. Rivera is a member of the Hunterdon County Bar Association and the New Jersey Bar Association. Ms. Rivera is fluent in Spanish.
